[Character and Cast Info Released!]
Sugar is one of the members of the Three Girls Gang from Planet Middle School, and she also goes by the name 7-Color Sugar. She is fond of keeping her hair in two buns.

Q1. What is your history with this series?
The first time I watched the anime, I was in elementary school and it was on satellite TV at a friend’s house. Even back then, I remember loving Lum so much because of how cute she is. I had a friend who liked to sing “Lum’s Love Song” at school a lot!
Q2. Please tell us about Sugar’s charms, what you want to focus on while playing her, and what you are looking forward to in your performance.
This is the first time I’ve played a “delinquent” character, so I was really happy to get the opportunity…! She looks pretty rough around the edges at first glance, but I’ve been careful to not forget how cute she is. Despite her bad side, I’ve been intentional about playing her in such a way that you can’t help but smile at her charms.
Ginger is another member of the Three Girls Gang from Planet Middle School. Also goes by the name Hotoke no Ginger. She keeps her hair short and has something resembling horns growing out of her head.
◆Comments from the voice of Ginger: Chitose Morinaga
Q1. What is your history with this series?
Aside from Urusei Yatsura, I’m also a big fan of Rumiko Takahashi’s other works, too. It’s not too much to say that it’s a special part of my life. I’ve read it over so many times because of how much I like it, and I’ve listened to “Lum’s Love Song” so many times I couldn’t possibly keep count. Needless to say, landing a role in Urusei Yatsura is so surreal to me that it still hasn’t sunk in yet. I especially love Ten-chan, so much so that I used to put sticky notes in my manga at certain cute scenes with Ten-chan, just so I could look at them over and over again. (laughs)
Q2. Please tell us about Ginger’s charms, what you want to focus on while playing her, and what you are looking forward to in your performance.
First of all, she’s an energetic and charged-up girl! Along with Sugar and Pepper, she does her best to think of ways to one-up Lum-chan and the others… She’s the kind of girl that never stops getting back up, and I wish I was like her! (laughs) I handled the recording so seriously that I kept running out of breath. Please enjoy all the chaos they bring to the show! Please also pay close attention to how well the members of the Three Girls Gang get along!
Pepper is also a member of the Three Girls Gang from Planet Middle School. Also goes by the name Poisonous Snake Pepper. Wears a headband and keeps her hair long.
◆Comments from the voice of Pepper: Rie Takahashi
Q1. What is your history with this series?
Lum-chan certainly left a powerful impression on me. She’s just such a wonderful and complete character. The visuals made me want to buy merch right away, and Lum is so cosmic in scale that she’s been loved by people across many generations.
Q2. Please tell us about Pepper’s charms, what you want to focus on while playing her, and what you are looking forward to in your performance.
Also known as “Poisonous Snake Pepper”, her sharp and snake-like eyes really suit her quick and slithery movements. I think she becomes even more charming when teamed up with Sugar and Ginger, so I hope everyone falls in love with this trio! I’m also feeling an energetic sense of teamwork and synergy when performing with the other voice actresses, and every time we interacted with each other I think our unique characteristics became even more pronounced.
[Anime Overview]
TV Anime Urusei Yatsura
[Introduction]
“I just really love my darling.”
Ataru Moroboshi is the most awful high school student on Earth, and Lum is a beautiful Oni girl who came from outer space.
Everything started when these two met…!
Rumiko Takahashi’s first serialized story is the brilliant series Urusei Yatsura, and she is still active on the forefront of her industry. In celebration of Shogakukan’s 100th anniversary, selected segments of the original story are being made into a new anime divided into 4 parts! (Season 1 began airing in October 2022, and will consist of parts 1 and 2)
Directed by Hideya Takahashi and Yasuhiro Kimura (who worked on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind), series composition by Yuko Kakihara (who worked on Cells at Work), character design by Naoyuki Asano (who worked on Mr. Osomatsu and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!) and animation production by david production (a company that has handled the production of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series and Fire Force).
Additionally, the “darling” main character Ataru Moroboshi is played by Hiroshi Kamiya, and the heroine Lum is played by Sumire Uesaka. The two of them together make a matchless couple.
This is a story that is bold, charged with love, and yet somewhat sad… a boy-meets-girl romantic comedy centered around Ataru and Lum and filled with characters from all over the galaxy.
It’s hard to say “I love you” while looking you in the eye.
This is a story of youth, filled with gorgeous, tough and crazy “Yatsura”!
